Hi !

Does anyone know what this furry critter is on my green star polyp ?? I noticed it hasn't come out in 2 days and then I noticed this critter on it !

Is he still possibly on the disc? If yes, are you able to pluck that disc out and put it in a container of water and grab another picture? I'm suspicious...... very very suspicious.

I'm looking at the picture on my "big" computer. I think there's a possibility it's an honest to goodness fireworm. A Hermodice carunculata. Actually, I'm not sure why I'm saying "there's a possibility", as I'm really really really sure that's what it is. I would grab that whole disc out with a net, to ensure he doesn't bail. If I'm right, I would pay to have that shipped to me.

I don't know of anyone who has been stung by a carunculata, so I have no idea how it feels in comparison to other bristleworms (which are nothing). So, be careful.

Lionfish lair- lol really ??? Why? Are they rare? He leaves the disc but I've caught him on there everyday for the past 3 days so I know he'll be back.

Crazy! I'll try to get a better pic for you tomorrow . He's always on that green polyp. Not sure if he's eating it or what

I'd be so happy with more pictures! You gotta get him out though, he'll be a pest. Netting the whole coral would indeed be best, because he's probably living under that GSP skin.

@Wiz , I know you're in the middle of moving, so may miss this without a tag, but check this out! A for realz carunculata!

Wow. Yep, that's my first. Really cool! Thanks for the tag :-) more pics would be awesome. But not the best hiker. :-( defanitly remove that bad boy.

I'm so excited. Anyone peeking in here, can y'all see the difference, or would it help if I got on my computer and drew some arrows?

I think the difference is pretty drastic to all that look close. Defanitly a more striking patern. And longer bristles I think. Cool looking worm.

Was able to take the disc out with him on it. I couldn't get a better pic in time! It looks like he's living under the actual star polyp. What's my next step now ??? Newbie here

Segragate! Keep him out if your system. Put him in something else for pics. Then.... if you can't find a home. Flush time :-(
