Hi Everyone,
Need everyone's help in picking out LED fixture to replace some of my T5 lights.
Tank configuration: 48" Wide x 33" Deep x 30" Tall. The LED light will be mounted in a hood and will be suspend approximately 10-12 " from the surface of the water.
Current lighting setup :
Currently I use 48" T5 Giesemann 54 watt bulbs in the following configuration.
QTY. Bulb
3 Pure Actinic
3 Actinic +
2 Midday
2 Aquablue +
The current set up does a really nice job of lighting the tank although I've never tested with a PAR meter. I can say that it's visually appealing for my tastes and I like how the tank looks when all the lights are on. Corals and fish all seem happy and are thriving under these lights.
So here's what I want to do:
I really like how my corals (mixed reef stuff, softies and a few SPS) and fish visually pop when lit by the Pure Actinic and Actinic plus bulbs so I would like to keep four of those bulbs (2 bulbs per fixture) to give the corals that extra pop and simulate sunrise/ sunset.
new configuration:
QTY. Bulb
2 Pure Actinic
2 Actinic +
= 216 watts of light.
LED Fixture to fill in the rest of the wattage and spectrum.
My problem is there's so much information out there on LED lighting I'm struggling with figuring out what fixture I need to fill in the spectrum and intensity I'm loosing with eliminating the other T5 bulbs. I figure what ever I buy I don't need a lot of purple or blue LED's since the four bulbs I'm keeping will cover that part of the spectrum.
Hoping you all can help me with narrowing down which fixture would work best for what I'm trying to do!
Thanks!
