so I'm pretty new to corals, have mostly softies, and 2 acan. They seem to be doing good. I was given a large rock with zoas on it and didn't know that there was an acan on the bottom of the rock. So it hasn't been getting light and is faded. I want to cut it off of that rock and put it on a frag but I have never done anything like this with an acan. So how do I go about getting it off the rock?

The rock is my tallest rock so I don't want to lay it on its side. Zoas on the rock were almost dead when I got it. They r looking a better. I think the owner had neglected the tank because he was taking it down to move and not taking any of the contents with him.

what a sweet score!
I have a very sharp chisel, I score the area around the coral as best I can by "scratching" with the chisel. a razor knife might help too. Then I tap the chisel and prey. It usually works very well.
its different from rock to rock but most are quite soft like sand stone.

Oh that sounds great. Then I'll have a better idea of what I'm doing! Thanks
practice makes perfect.
be a bit careful handling the palys. some folks are sensitive.

So I finally got the coral moved yesterday. It went much smoother than I was expecting. Now I just hope I didn't wait too long to do it
sweet news! I should do a hitchiker and rescue coral thread. it quite amazing what can happen.

oh one more thing. PICS!!!!!!!!:D
