Howdy, gang. The good news is that I finally have some growth from my Acro's! The bad news is that I placed one of the Acros to close to the other two and now I need to move it. See the pic below. The red arrow is pointed to the little guy that is getting overran. This little guy has done a little encrusting at the base and grown a few new small twigs. Should I move this guy? Leave it? If I should move it, how do I do it? Just cut each of the vertical twigs with bone cutters and glue them back to a new area of live rock?

Thanks for the pointers!

If you could remove the rock, that area looks like a good spot to break that piece of the rock off. I have done that in the past using a screwdriver and hammer. You just have the be easy and score the rock with light taps first. If bone cutters can fit around that area of rock, that will work as well and is my preferred method if it can be done.

There is always the option removing all but the encrusting area and then placing the rest somewhere else. The ecrusted portion may grow back or be overrun and then die. Hard to tell.

Or, I have acros growing through each other that do not seem to fight except for growth or they shade the others.

But, if you want them separated, my suggestion would be either bone cutter to the rock or working the hammer and screwdriver method with a gentle touch to get that nub of the rock the acro is on separated from the main rock.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, @Eagle_Steve. Chipping the rock will probably be too difficult for me. I am using Walt Smith Reef Rock which has a concrete base. I would also be too concerned of harming the two larger Acro's surrounding the one I want to move since I don't have the most steady hands. :)

I think I'll try to remove everything but the encrusting area with bone cutters and glue that little growth elsewhere.

Thanks again!

Yeah that rock does not break apart to easy, but bone cutters may be able to cut through that rock. Although if you do not feel comfortable trying, doing exactly what you plan to do is probably best.
