Hi Everyone, I just downgrade my tank from a 110GL to a 60GL Bowfront. My tank is not predrilled like my 110GL so I end up getting a Ehopps PF-800. I have a 1†PVC then a 1 ¼†Flex Hose and it loops right before the filter sock. I have a return pump rated at 1340. Return line is on a ½ pvc with 3 90deg. Elbow.

Problem #1: Return is faster than the drain. Solution – I put a valve to slow down the rate

Problem #2: Overflow is too noisy – Solution tried the air tube hose. It made gurgling sound time to time so I change it.

Problem#3: I made the Hoffer pipe. It minimized the sound but from time to time there is gurgling. Solution – I made a Durso Pipe

Problem #4: I installed the durso pipe and everything is fine. Its quiet but every 30 seconds water will come down and gurgle for about 2 seconds and water will rise again. Solution – I drilled the next size drill bit

Problem #5: Now that I drilled water stays 2†above the intake and it cannot keep up with the return. I already have my return ½ close and it barely has any pressure. Any suggestions?

Right now Im using my 2x150W HQI with 2x96W PC on my bow front but the lenght of the light is too long. HOw much light do I need for my new tank since I want to get T5

Thanks

since you drilled the bigger hole have you tried to put a larger airline in?

for lighting, it depends on what type of coral you want to keep (sps, lps, zoas, or a mixed reef)

I didnt put any aireline. I had the same durso pipe on my 110 before and it didnt have any airline

as for the corals. It will be mix, but no hard corals

are you able to take a picture of the overflow the way you have it setup. Trying hard to figure this out.

without having any sps, you could probably get away with a nice 4 bulb t-5 fixture
