So I’ve been working on cleaning a used 150 gallon tank I bought it was covered in coralline algae I’ve tipped the tank on its sides and covered it with vinegar it took all of it off but there’s this weird white film on the glass that makes it almost impossible to see through I’ve tried re soaking it with vinegar and scraping with a razer blade but it won’t come off here’s some pictures

looks like its salt etched. you can try polishing it with cerium oxide and a felt buffing wheel. But in my personal experience, it will still be somewhat hazy.

Try filling it with water and put your lights over it and turn them on, see if you can see through it. The used tank I bought was only etched in the upper 3rd of the glass. After polishing it, I filled with water and turned on lights, at the right angle I could see the etching, but was not horrible. Yours is definitely etched way more than the one i had though.

Side note: I did end up buying a new tank, but only because the other one ended up having a leak in one seam, and I was too lazy to tear it all apart and reseal it.

Sometimes tank with water can looks different than the one with... For some reasons you cannot see some of the marks when filled with water and light.
Don't stress out
