Hello all! I have been a big aquarium guy for years. I recently got an amazing deal, long story short someone was selling their house due to divorce; they had an inwall tank, 96x24x25, he grew coral and had a whole setup. Sold all his coral and the tank was removed from the wall since his filtration system took up a whole backroom and no one wanted to buy the house with that setup, and he did not want to deal with it and just wanted to sell the house so I got it for pretty much free, and its a tank I could never afford normally. I am going to turn it into a freshwater tank. All the pumps, sump and tank itself are in great condition still.

However, while cleaning it out I noticed the black plastic trim/frame is split on the corners. But it looks like it was made like this....and it has ALOT of glass bracing in the middle and all the way down the sides for eurostyle. The bottom has what looks like a glass frame on the inside.... (see the last picture, its thick glass framed all the way around, and all the seals and silicon all look perfect. From my experience I know frames are crucial, but I have never seen a tank with all this glass bracing and the plastic frame. So is the plastic frame in this case all that much help or important?

If I replace, I will need a new top and bottom frame. I have replaced frames before; I am a very good DIY I have my whole shop. But I cannot find a frame that size anywhere.

I thought about making one out of aluminum, or I am making a stand myself, welded steel and thought about making a welded steel frame on the stand to sit the aquarium into. So, has anyone done anything like this before? Anyone know of somewhere that makes/sells frames this size?

Any comments?

That's cosmetic plastic, probably to stop light leaks. The eurobraced tank doesn't need a plastic frame to hold it together.

That what I was thinking, but never dealt with the euro braced type of tank before so I didn't know about the plastic. Thank you sir for the assurance!
