I'm in the process of installing my carbon reactor. I think I've got most of it figured out, but I was wondering if it would be better to place the return line into the return section of my sump or is it okay to have it go into the section where I have the skimmer. If I place it in the skimmer section, which is where I also have the pump set for the reactor, will it matter if it is close to the pumps? Thanks!

With every change out of fresh GAC, I flush it before running the return lines directly into my filter socks; that way I can catch any of the fine particle dust that happens to escape the reactor. Even if using BRS ROX8 it has a tendency to flush out some of the fine particles into your water so placing the drains it into the sock is my way around it; truth be told, it doesn't really matter as long as it ends up back into the tank and you flush it well prior to that.

Thank you! I can sometimes overthink things, so my thought was that it would be better to have it go straight to the return section so that the water from the reactor wouldn't get sucked back through. I will go ahead and route it to my return filter sock, I hadn't thought about doing that. I'm also using the ROX8. Thanks again and as always I appreciate your help!!!

One more question @143MPCo. When changing out the GAC should I shut the pump off completely or can I just use the valve that I have on the intake line? Thanks

I don't shut the pump off, but I do have the replacement cartridge filled and ready to install right away.

Perfect, I also bought an extra cartridge to make the changes faster and easier! I just wasn't sure if leaving the pump on would ruin it! Thank you again!!!

Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad idea to shut it down, I just don't do it and I haven't had any issues; knock on wood!

I was actually thinking about it and it will be just as easy to flip the switch and turn it off, that way I don't have to worry about it. Hopefully, you won't have any problems down the road. Thanks again!
