So I came up on a 32 gallon nano about a month ago that I'd like to use for mt QT. I'm receieving my 90gal DT next week. I have not done a tank in over a decade so this is all new again.

It came with a small skimmer, UV sterilizer, 2 powerheads, some sponges, 150 metal halide, external canister filter, and I found a used chiller. Can someone advise on how to configure the equipment?

Thanks!

Really the best thing to do is not hook up anything but a heater and a powerhead. Add sponge media to one of the rear chambers or a HOB and keep it simple.

UV and canister media should not be used with meds.

If it were me I would save that biocube for a small reef and just get a cheap 20G setup off Craigslist. A simple tank will make sanitizing easier if you ever need to.

Will a HOB work better than the sponge media? I read somewhere that a canister filter is great for a QT. Does the bio media absorb the meds?

You can run ceramic media and sponge media in the filter. Just make sure there isn't anything containing polyfiber or carbon.
