How does my sps go from looking great one day to starting to bleach the next. Im newer to sps .I have had new sps in the tank for 9 days today. All the sudden half my pieces the tips are bleaching. I just tested parameters
79 degrees
Salt 1.025
Mag 1390
CA 440
Nitrite 0
Ph 8.2
I have no accurate nitrate test kit. Test strips I don't think work right.
The sps is in a 90 display under 6 bulb t5 fixture. Fixture is 5 inches from the waters surface. Corals are about 9 to 12 inches from light.

Only thing I've changed was my salt from a 26 to a 25 and cleaned my protein skimmer.
I does 20 ml vinegar and 10 ml vodka once a day.

What do I do???? A 10 gal water change idk wait it out my next water change is Friday.

Reef Chrystal's for salt
Kent part a and b for CA and alk
I have a jebao wp 25 mid tank
And a vortex mp10 opposite side of tank towards top of tank
Flow is moderate.
Total volume is 110 gallons

Tips are a little white maybe new growth but the base has a spot of white starting
Jason fox flame the lime green rim on the tip is gone today

Scully
Trachy
Gsp
Some acans zoas frogspawn hammer coral blastos Montis leptos

Kh is 232. Is that high? I don't tad anything to bring up my alkalinity

Matter of fact I only add 5 to 10 ml of mag when I need it. I've never had to add cal or alk since I've owned this tank

9 to 12 inches from light seems a little too close. They might be getting burned. I would raise the light to maybe 12 inches above the water.

I'm sorry most every one of my corals is at least 12 inches from the light. the closest one to the light is a colony of stylo and that lookes pretty good. Everything else is 12 to 14 inches from the light. I just used a tape measure to check and the light is 5 inches from the surface of my water

I am confused. You mentioned earlier you dose Kent Part A and B which is dosing Alk and Ca.
When I convert your Alk numbers you posted you are having about 13 dKH which is pretty high IMO
If I have to add that is the product that I have on the shelf for the tank. Bust I've owned the tank for 3 months now and only added mag. Besides for water changes I bought the tank off my dad. I'm only 23 and still live at home for now. He's had the tank for 2 years prior

I don't add anything for alk besides for water changes so why is my alk staying that high? I don't think vinegar or vodka adds to it

I would move them down it looks like they are bleaching. I usually start my sps on my sand bed and then every 7 days move them up a little bit till I get them where I like them.

Get a good ALK test kit. Salifert or Redsea.

Switch salts to Tropic Marin Pro, or to Instant Ocean. Keep ALK around 8-8.7 Ca 380-420.
IMO

Alk swings are the probably the most likely event that can happen that will cause sps to die without careful attention. Api has some great test kits like their calcium test kit it's much easier than the Red Sea. But do yourself a favor if you want SPS corals and buy the Red Sea Alk test kit. You need to get your tanks demands dailed in. Once you do that you can test once a week unless something looks off which is what I do. If your alk is at 13 you want to decrease this slowly. To have sps grow you need 4 things

Stability
Alk and calc levels
Flow
Lighting

Good luck
