So I started my tank a little over a month ago and tried to make it working using Bahamas Oolite sand which is 0.25-1.0 (mm) in grain size. It was fine for the most part with adjustment of flow but recently my fish have been moving the sand to the point where they have buried some of my rocks in sand. Thankfully I have no corals yet so this isn't such of an issue but I do not see this working long term. I knew the risks when I purchased the sand but it didn't work out for me. What's the best way about removing my existing sand without hurting my fish and replacing it with sand that is of larger grain? What's the smallest grain size I should go for that would cause issues? Any advise is appreciated!

It should not be an issue to change since the tank is new. If you can vacuum it out during a water change I would do that. What size tank and rocks. You may want to do 1/2 depending on size. You can put new sand in by puttin a funnel in a piece of pvc and pour sand in

Sorry, also forgot to ask what fish they are. Chances are they are going to disturb most size substrates.
