No not Aiptasia, could possibly be a Rock Anemone. Rock Anemones come in a wide variety of colors.

Thanks so much...lil releived....had another rock which seemed to have a few polys like anemone...nuked them as was sure...thanks

Out of curiosity where did the rock come from?

Picked up from an acquintance who was moving and this was one of the last peices left....where can i get more info of it....hv no clue how to take care of it

Common name is Flower Rock Anemone if that is the correct ID. Does this creature move?

You'll be able to tell for sure if it's a rock anemone by attempting to feed it. If it takes fish food or small pieces of raw seafood like fish or scallopes than it's an anemone.
I have never seen one quite that color but as posted previously they come in many colors and shapes.

If it's not a rock anemone then I would be tempted to see if it's an LPS, if it is an LPS it should have an underlying skeletal structure.

Rock anemones will not host clown fish and can pack a potent sting.

No, have not seen it moving, just got it yesterday...but if you try to touch it it closes....will try to feed some fish and let u know

Gave lil peice of salmon and it grabbed it and closed....so its an anemone....how safe is it for fish, have a couple of clowns...gobys and cardinals

Nice find there!!
Its not going to go after the fish if thats what your asking, those guys are pretty hardy, and tend not to go wandering about the tank. You can feed em also, lil meaty chunks, shrimp, squid and such. That one is a beauty!!

Most fish inherently know to stay away. Accidents do happen though, and they can eat a fish. Clowns will probably not go near it. I think it's cool looking and an awesome bonus. I still can not find an image that looks exactly like that one. You see a lot of them come out of the Caribbean, they also hitch-hike in on live rock out of FL.
