i found this tonight under one of my mushroom rocks. It would get no light. Is it a sponge???? Any ideas. Thank you for your time.

Not really helpful. I think we've established a higher resolution photo would help in better identifying. Not all 80's photos look like that but I might enlarge, print and frame that photo for the abstract, artistic, flair it holds.
