hellow everyone so my issue is that I am in the process of haveing a 180 gallon tank built but the local guy will not do euro braceing I have to have a big glass center brace so my issue is that I have a synergy overflow box that I wanted to put in center with two returns on each side but can't because of the center brace so my question is where should I put the overflow should I go with this tank with big center brace or should i get a manufactured 180 with plastic top the reason I wanted to have my tank built is because I wanted starphire but can't get him to do eurobraceing so should I put overflow to the side of brace on this tank and figure out returns or should I do no starphire and put overflow in center like I want on manufactured tank PLEASE HELP me decide

I would look at another tank manufacturer tbh, that will build the tank you want. What kind of budget do you have to work with?

I was trying to keep it in a 1500.00 range the 180 I was going to do is 1200.00 I have put down 600.00 as a deposit to have them build but found out he will not do euro braceing so trying to figure out what I want to do before getting my money back

Hit up sc aquarium, they could be right in your budget, eurobraced. Where are you located, depending on where that is maybe someone here can help you hook up with a local builder.

I agree with you but I'm worried that it's going to be out of my budget I don't understand why he won't do the euro braceing but my LFS said it's because of integrity of the tank I thought that euro would be just as strong but I even asked to put two center braces just on each side of the overflow so it's not in the center and he will not do it so

What are your tank dimensions and how thick is the glass he is using?

The tank would be a standered 180 72 -24-24 and it 1/2 in thick I also wondered is staphire really worth it because I don't mind the plastic top but if I do I can't have starphire and if I do the center glass piece how much light dose it block

I have a 187 5'x30x24. I have to say that the low iron glass is pretty spectacular. I have 1/2" low iron with euro bracing, a previously owned reef savvy, I love it.

I wish I could afford a Reef Savvy amazing tanks Do you think I could get your tanks same dimensions without euro or center bracing originally I wanted rimless but couldn't get a 180 rimless unless I did 3/4 inch and he doesn't use anything bigger then 1/2

I would go euro braced, its a good fail safe top and bottom. I am unfortunately in Florida so I really have no idea who else is close to MI for a build. Maybe try in the club forums in Michigan, there may be someone with local knowledge that can help you.
