Skimmer is still overflowing and creating microbubbles. I planned my sump for the depth recommended, and have raised the skimmer from there. Months ago I ran the skimmer in a vinegar rinse. It has been running in the tank for a couple of weeks now. I reoriented the pump/skimmer body and checked all connections. What am I missing?

Do you have a way to slow down the incoming air to the airline? If so close off some of the air supply to skimmer this will let less air in and should stop overflowing. either that or raise the skimmer again...

There's no pump or valve on the airline, and if I plug the airline, it just overflows faster. If I raise it anymore the bubble plate will be out of the water.

I found a dried out tube of crazy glue in my tank once, my skimmer was going crazy, so I am not sure if you have something in your tank that is causing your skimmer to go nuts.

It's a "new" tank. I rebulit after Hurricane Harvey and it's only had livestock in it a couple weeks. The filter sock is old....

does the skimmer pump, pump water thru the bubble plate, or its flat first? the round plate.. should not be completely all holes, if i remb. correctly.. the part that doesnt have holes is what your skimmper pump should be aiming at .. try that.

I have that plate turned so that it's solid over the pump outlet, but I will try turning it, thanks!

I run mine in 9.5". Water flow from the threaded black pump outlet should be hitting the part of the plate without any holes. That would be correct.

By chance have you used any reef epoxy products in your tank to glue rocks together or attach frags?

Yep. This stuff. But it ran for two weeks, overflowing, after putting a couple rocks together. But I guess that could be it. Then, two days ago, I attached a bunch of frags using it. I guess I just need to give it more time and stop doing things in the tank.

I've put some filter pad in the bubble trap which helps the microbubble situation. I don't intend to leave it there indefinitely. It makes me nervous.

There's your culprit! As it cures it affects surface tension and prevents bubbles from forming properly. Drove me nuts trying to figure out what happened to my skimmer the first time I used it. Depending on how much you use and the quality of your water it can prevent a skimmer from working properly for a lengthy time period. Just dial back your skimmer to keep the bubbles from overflowing and if that's not enough, turn your skimmer off for a day or two.

And time for a water change.

I have the same skimmer.

What I did when I first got it was clean it real good.
set it in my sump and turn the knob to read "Max"

I gave it a week and then slowly moved it to 3 then2 and now its set at 1.5

I keep the skimmer in roughly 8" of water.

Hope this helps.
