Hi every one I just started up my nano 28g and live rock and everything has been in for over 6 to 7 weeks added new live sand 2 weeks ago
Looks like all cycling has completed used seachem Stability for 7 days to establish bio-filter and to prevent new tank syndrom and I just started turning on the lights for 8 hours a day 105w and I am still getting a large amount of detrius not sure how to spell that but I know its brown alge I only have 2 sump pumps with nozels going out I think there rate is something like 266 gph on a wavemaker alternating,only have one 425 gph nano power head mounted inside the tank running all the time does any one think that this is why I am geting so much brown alge do I need more power heads that alternate ??

Second question myjbl nano 28g has an terriable media basket that comes stock with the tank now I am on a buget right now and need to keep my cost down , what is the best filltration sytem I could get just for now I can upgrade later, with this brown alge in mind jbl makes a cheap 40.00 skimmer that runs off and airstone and air pump it fits in the bake just bilt for 28g, or would I bo better just get a carbon and gfo reactor wich would you get sure the c and gfo reactor will cost more but if it helps keep water clear clean I may be able to swing it. or is there a low cost skimmer ( where at) that can hang on back or go underneth my cabnet.

Thanks salty:violin::jaw:

I believe that those are diatoms and they will go away. Blow them with a turkey baster.

Salty,

I hope you'll take a moment to look over my tank thread to see and believe that I have the knowledge and experience to help, and I say that because I know that the web can have such conflicting advice, but the important item here is that you understand that no matter the size of your tank, it's all about the biology. Here's an article I wrote a few months ago about a spectacular nano.

Tasia's Nano

It has virtually no filtration on it, but it looks amazing. The important item is that the biology is balanced thru frequent water changes and constant hand's on cleaning. You don't need to change anything; you just need to be patient. Patience in this hobby means months or years, not weeks. Your brown algae will go away in time if you simply keep at basic maintenance and don't overload the system with food or fish.

Good-luck and keep us posted!
