Ok so I have this algae bloom going. Thick red stringy algae and brown fuzzy stringy algae.

salinity 35
Temp 77.5-78
Alk 8.1
Ph 8.0
Nitrate ~5.0
Phos 0.08
Ca 574
Mag 1398

Tank is a 90g about 3 months old. There’s only one fish, and 8 coral frags.
I’ve been dosing Microbacter7 for a couple of weeks. I’m running carbon and gfo, because my nitrates were up over 20 a week ago.

Pretty new at this so I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. For lights I have hydra 32HDs, running the BRS AB+ program.

Sounds like Cyano bacteria and or Diatoms or Dinos. Common in new tanks, but it will be close to impossible to ID without some good pictures and possibly a microscope for the brown stuff.

If you can't post pics, you may want to research Cyanobacteria aka red slime, diatoms and dinoflagellates in the Algae section or google.

Looks like cyano bacteria or red slime. It can be typical in newer tanks and sometimes goes away on its own. I would manually remove as much as you can (turkey baster or suck it out during a water change). You can also use Chemiclean, which worked wonders for my tank after I started dosing nitrates and had cyano start to grow.
