Hello! I’m setting up my 125g tank with sump under the tank in the stand. I have a external pump that I picked up but I am told it is really noisy. I am looking for a in sump submersible pump but I am not sure what size to go with. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I run two Cor 20 pumps on my 120. It also depends what equipment you are running off them besides your return(s). Skimmer, CA reactor, carbon reactor, UV?

Kind of depends on what you can afford, I would go dc if you are worried about noise.
Well the ac pump I have right now I was
Told it was super loud. It is in my living room. Nothing to break the bank but not cheap as well.

Will be a skimmer to start. Calcium reactor will come later.

Mag Drive pumps are another to consider. They run hotter but are quiet especially if placed on a silicone pad.

Look into Jebao DC pumps as they are solid pumps and at a good price. You can buy 2 and have one as a backup.

I like the Hydor Seltz DC pumps. Probably the most affordable DC pumps. Sleek controllers as well have one fir my return which is a 1600 and one gut flow to my algae reactor which is the 500 version

I would not run your skimmer off of your return pump.

Determine how much flow you want. I have seen from 3 - 20 times turn over recommended. I went with 4X on my setup. Get a rough idea of how you are going to plumb it so you can get a rough idea of how much headloss you are going to have. Then you can look at flow charts to see how big of a pump you will need.

Sicce SDC WiFi 6.0. Run one on my 120 currently. My new tank will run the 7.0 and 6.0 for dual returns

I'd recommend coral box DC return pump, it's silent and doesn't break the bank, I say it's like a better Jebao lol

Hows this been working out for you? I'm doing a 120 build and have 2 of 7.0

New tank isn't running yet. Still just running a 6.0 on my 120.

I have now bought 2 of the 7.0s for the new tank though. My 6.0 has been fantastic
