My Set Up:
120 Gallon Deep Blue tank
55 Gallon Sump
200 micron filter sock
Reef Octopus Diablo 250x protein skimmer (rated for 300 gallon tanks)
Aqua UV Classic 57 watt UV Sterlizer
Auto Top Off
200+ LBS of live lock
1 Ecotech MP40
2 Ecotech MP10's
return pump 1900 gph
I have 70 times turn over in my tank
48" 6x54W Nova Extreme PRO T5HO by Current USA
I also use RO/DI water and Red Sea Coral Pro salt

I have a heavy fish bioload but I do 20% bi-weekly water changes and I have a super over sized Skimmer.

Salinity 1.024
light - I am currently using (5) ATI Blue Plus T5 Lamps and (2) ATI Purple Plus T5 Lamps

My Problem:
I have an Australian Acan ( not growing )
Blue Polyps ( just got a week Ago )- wont open up...
Green Star Polpys ( not growing - actually seems like it is getting smaller...)

I have my lights on a timer so they are on from 2PM-11PM
I add 30ML for each of the Reef 2 part dosing solution daily - Seachem Reef Fusion two-part solution

what am I doing wrong? too much flow? not enough light? should I add whites? should I be using different lights/lamps? temp ranges from 78* - 82* ( hot days ) normally stays at 78*

please help... let me know what I can do to rectify this problem

thanks

Jcearl,

To be better able to access the tank, what are your test results for:

Phosphate
Nitrate
Alkalinity
Calcium
Magnesium

Have you fed the acan? I learned the hard way that these like to be fed meaty foods like Mysis. if not, they starve.

phosphate - dont check
Nitrate .1
Alkalinity - dont check
Calcium - 395 -400
Magnesium - dont check

I target feed the Acan - once or twice a week a mix of mysis and Brine shrimp

thanks

Jake

How old are your bulbs? Any algae growth in system?

bulbs arent very old - maybe 5 months - I have tons of Coralline algae covering all the rocks and growing on the overheads - I have no nusiance algae

I love all the equipment you are using. Very nice stuff. I have a 120 too.
I had some issues with growth on my corals and I started testing my Alkalinity. It was really low for some reason. I increased my dosing of two part and I am getting better results now. It might help you get better results too.
Have fun reefing!
