Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place I'm new to these threads and still learning but I have a Fiji Foxface that is in quarantine. It's been eating fine up until yesterday and now It's lying on its side half camo mode. Excuse my speech to text but I'm kind of panicking here... Temperature is 80.1, salinity is 1.024 no ammonia nitrates or nitrites. Been treated with one dose of ichx this am... have included pictures. Hopefully someone can tell me what I can do or what questions I need to answer!

Wow, noone?! I'm sorry if my etiquette is off but I really do need help... if someone could even give me just an idea of what I need to do? I'm ready to ready to euthanize if I have to.☹

Do you have any source of oxygen going into the tank? The ich treatments can take away the needed oxygen and that could be the problem. I could be wrong though.

ICH=X can be very harmful and a product I dont recommend which contains malachite green which is very strong. Unless you physically had Ich and were able to identify ich, the issue you may have encountered is likely over-dosing as this can result in fatalities rather than healing from a condition. With this and most treatmens, it's important to calculate the exact amount of water in your system (exclusive of substrate, rocks, decorations, filtration or other additions) to avoid an overdose which is known as useable gallons. If you have lets say a 40 gallon tank, you are treating for 34 gallons - NOT 40.
If you added any water conditions, there may also have been a reaction as noted on their bottle.
The rash on its body suggests a burn or reaction to chemical.
You can change water to reduce the ichX strength and Increase oxygen, but from the looks of the fish, this is a gamble. If it were more stable, I would suggest a freshwater dip but that will stress fish further

I can do a water change it's in a small QT tank, Running an airstone and heater at at 80.1゚. Our local reef store told me that it was ich, Which I don't believe but went ahead and treated for it. Is it possible to use kanaplex or metroplex after the water change? What do you suggest?

I would definitely change out 50% of the water and see if that helps. I have had experienced this before and did a FW dip which was to soon and my Foxface did not last after that. IMO

I did a fresh water dip also. Just changed about 75% of the water and while there is still a lot of energy there, it's only short lived. I think I may end up having to euthanize the poor guy. I can't stand to see any animal suffer. Thank you for your help.

I really appreciate your help. I think by the time I realized that he had been missed diagnosed, he was probably already too far gone. :/ This hobby can be so stressful! I'm doing so much research but finding so many different answers..

The FW dip would be what I would suggest, but it may be too late. Ich-X, as mentioned isn't a very good treatment for marine fishes.

I'm thinking flukes here......

Thank you for your reply Jay. I've already lost him. :'( Lesson learned... I won't use that product again. Although I had used it on a clownfish and a damsel with success... it could have been just dumb luck. Thanks to all who tried to help.

Thank you for your condolences. it really does weigh heavily on me when I'm trying to take care of such a beautiful creature, only to let it down.

Sorry to hear. Was out for dinner (new girl in my life)

;)
