I am setting up a 120 Saltwater tank at the beginning of next year and i need to know what thing i should get. i have the tank, stand, skimmer, and light. i need to know how much sand, live or dead rock i need. what return pump is good to use in a sump and how powerful it need to be. how powerful is the power-head going to be.

With the sand you can go to marine depot and use the sandbed calculator to determine how much to get for how deep you want the sand. With rock it's going to depend on what you go with. The more dense the rock the more you will need. If you use hatian you will need at least 150 pounds. If you go with tukani you could get by with 90. Fiji, Marshall Islands, pukani I would suggest 120 pounds. Tonga branch is really only for looks and does not offer much filtration. As far as return pumps are concerned it depends on what all you plan to do with it. Are you going to have a manifold to run reactors off of? A jebao dc-6000 would be plenty of you're not going to use a manifold. If If you are going to use a manifold I would suggest the dc-9000. With powerheads 2 jebao rw8 would be more than sufficient.

You should do the research.
Sand returns pumps skimmer sizes power heads live rock and sump run in some basic principals as far as how much and witch one.
If you don't know those you may want to reconsider the next size tank you get. If you get in over your head you be ticked and waste a bunch of money.
Go slow and learn first.
Or get something really cool and pay a guy to service it. But let him install it so he makes a buck and will know the system
Or join the few who get on the boards with all kinds of tank problems because they rushed or weren't ready and lost fish and corals and won't admit it.
Read up on the Berlin method look at the stuff for beginners on the homepage. There's actually a calculator there for all of it.
I love this hobby but want you to love it too.

There are tons of options--it really comes down to what you like the most. Look at a bunch of tank builds and decide what you think looks best, make sure you know all the basics, and then plan your build around that concept. For example, maybe you like the look of a bare-bottom tank instead of a sand bed, or maybe you want a nice deep sand bed. This can influence what kinds of livestock you keep (sand-dwelling gobies, etc), how much flow you can have, and what kind of filtration you'll be relying on. There are tons and tons of threads on that debate alone. Take your time and decide what you like, and then research how best to go about realizing your vision.

I been doing lots of research this is going to be my second tank. I had a 55g saltwater fish tank and had a to take it down bc we move into a small apartment until our house was done getting build. I am getting ppl opinions on equipment.
