I just brought home a green flowerpot. its acclimating right now. i bought this coral not knowing the care level of this coral. Unfortunately, I'm very new to corals. do i dip these corals in the same way as other corals? looking to do a bayer dip. other than two small black spots the coral looks healthy, and was fulling extended in my LFS

I do ten percent bayer to water ratio for 10 min on all my corals. But I also started everything from scratch like dry rock and QT corals for 76 days. If you don’t plan on QT everything wet or using a separate tank to monitor the coral for a couple weeks while performing dips as needed then You could prophetically dip for 5-10 min in a 10-1 mix of water-bayer
This will kill the free swimmers and a lot of hitchhikers but any eggs layed on surfaces like frag plugs or stony coral skeletons will still go on to develop and reproduce. That is why some more careful hobbyist will have a separate observation/QT tank to further prevent unwanted pest making it to the DT

I was not successful with this coral. I'm not saying you won't be. Mine got brown jelly pretty quickly and I removed it before it infected other LPS. I prophylactically dip all corals using revive. Bayer is another option. Seems like moderate light and moderate flow is what it likes and here is a video on goniopora from tidal gardens.

i also recently purchased one about a week ago, its been fully extended and looking good so far.

However i havent seen it eat that i know of, which isnt concerning yet (hopefully)

How long was it in your tank before it opened up? Mine has been in for a day and barely opened . The polyps seem to start to come out and go back in. My tank is a reefer 350 running a maxspect gyre 250 in between 10 and 30%. My parameters are cal 450, mag 1450, all 8.1, ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 5, phosphate.04, salinity 1.026, temp 75.8, ph 8.2

It opened up the next full lighting cycle, i have it all the way at the bottom of the tank for now.

however i use nsw and so does my lfs so the only thing its really acclimating to is the lights.

The place I got it from uses tap water still( imagine that) and bs lights. So mine is acclimating to good water and A.I. HYDRA 26hd

They are notoriously difficult!

I know. And I’m new to corals. 1 year in . I bought it because it was only $30 and the size of an apple. I was aware of the difficulty in keeping flowerpots. But, figured I’d try. I do have a good husbandry schedule so i pray I can do well with this coral.
