I recently increased my lighting and added a couple new fish. I had a case of dinos about 6 months ago now that i beat with increased nutrients UV sterilization and peroxide dosing.

I now have something coming back on the frag racks as well as starting to grow on acros. It's very similar in appearance and characteristics to my old dinos. Under the microscope though it doesn't look the same. Before they were oval shaped and had an oar like tail and they moved around in circles around the par. These new ones are colored like single cell algae and i have yet to see any of them move. Here's pics. Please help. I have a battlebox coming on the 15th and dont want to add them to a system that's off. @reefsquad

Correct its a Dinoflagellate, i am uncertain on species.
Whats your
No3 and po4 reading?
Running uv?

That is ostreopsis. UV and increase N and P to 10 ppm N and 0.10 ppm for po4 will clear up the tank pretty quickly.

Running UV yes. My nitrates hover right around 10 and po4 po4 .05. It's not bad yet but def in there so i want to kill the little jerks before they get worse. I started peroxide dosing again day before yesterday. I beat them once quickly so I'm confident this round. Will increasing po4 another .05 make a difference? I use to run a low nutrient system and that was the cause before. This time i don't know. I did add some snails from salty underground and some berghia. I didn't dip the snails so that's the only thing i can think of how they got in this time. Unless doubling my light could have also contributed to it.

Peroxide doesnt have a huge impact. Youll see a reduction only because dinoflagellates can encyst themselves for protection. Once the h2o2 is gone, the dinos regain the battle.
