Hey! I’m still a newbie and need your help please. I’ve noticed these spots showing up on my rock just a few days ago. The tank is 2 1/2 months old. Hope this isn’t something bad....

Does it look somewhat slimy? I am having trouble telling from the pictures. If it does look slimy though my guess would be that it is some kind of cyanobacteria

Chemiclean- maybe others can chime in, but this worked for me with cyano.
now I’m battling Dino’s. Currently on a 3 day black out, and vibrant with UV runnning.

so it could be worse lol.

I have 2 clowns, 2 green Chromis, diamond goby, lawnmower blenny, CUC, zoas, and a BTA. Here’s another picture from the other side of the rock.

This is best done one of two ways: physical removal via siphon and water change or using one of the many chemical treatments that kill Cyanobactera. Boyd Chemiclean, Ultralife Red Slime Remover and Blue Life Red Cyano Rx are all excellent, reef safe solutions. To take out the Cyano/red slime
