Definitely urchin, you only just seen.
I assume you took it out aquarium

When did you introduce it?

No expert but the thick spines make me think pencil urchin or rock boring urchin but there's tons of different kinds.
If you don't get an answer, go searching the 'net for those maybe?

Funny thing is I didn't. I started my tank with dry rock and dip everything that goes in. I have a pincushion urchin thats white but no other urchins. Last night I went down after lights went off and I found him. He is very small but I have no idea how it got in. I'm afraid to just leave it till I id it. I do think its a rock boring urchin. But not sure
