I'm having an issue with my Inkbird. It's reading the temp as 78 when in fact the tank is at 72, triple checked this with 3 different types of thermometers. I can't find the instruction book that came with the Inkbird.

Is there a way to recalibrate this thing? Or do I adjust the temp to match the 3 other thermometers I tested the water with?

Any help is appreciated.

What model inkbird are you using?

your probe needs to be calibrated over time it can drift. I calibrate temp controllers as part of PM's on equipment all the time.

Thanks for the video. I'll have to keep a closer eye on this thing in the future for sure. Still can't believe I can get the tank down to 72 with all lighting on to be honest.

How quickly should I bring it back up to temp? Was thinking 2 degrees per day till it's back to 78.

That sounds like a solid plan ;) you could probably go quicker than that, but why risk it, right :D

I have two.. the first was about 1.5 deg off but the second was right on calibrating with a NSF certified digital thermometer.

Mine was dead on out of the box as well. Kept an eye on it for the first 3 months and figured it was set. I was surprised to see the jump today honestly. If it wasn't for a WWC order I received today, I might not have noticed it. I dipped a cup into the tank and thought it felt too cold. Glad I double checked it with my Thermapen.

Thanks for the heads up I will keep an eye on mine, I have my hands in my tanks a couple times a day so pretty easy to tell if temp shifts to much.

I have mine set at CA minus 6. Hasn't drifted much at all since set it up months ago. Calibrated with a calibrated fluke temperature unit. Checked mine a week ago, was still in calibration.

I have two, and they both drifted after about 6 months. I think they're fine, mostly you get what you pay for. I'll use them in a small tank but no way I'd trust one on my big tank.

Thanks for the input. And very good point on getting what you pay for. Holds true for lots of things really.

I think the Ranco is a better choice, but it's also $100. None of mine have failed, though I'm sure they do. On my big tank, with many thousands in livestock I use redundant controllers. I think being paranoid is a good thing in this hobby :D:D
