Hey guys im new to the reef hobby and the forum as well. I recently purchase a mr aqua 12 gallon long (Dimensions: 35.4" x 8.3" x 9.4") tank and was looking into lighting. I do intend to get corals in the future. Do you think the Orbit Marine Led light 24-36 inch led light has sufficient lighting for coral growth? I was also looking into the Viparspectra 165W Led. The comments says this is an overkill for coral. They are both price around the same.

Thank you!

You can adjust the viparspectra and you will definitely grow any coral with it and also be able to Use it if you eventually upgrade your tank size.

As for the orbit you will have to get a new light on a bigger tank, and only able to grow low light corals(maybe). I ditched my orbit after having it for a couple weeks.

Thanks really appreciate it!

I agree with Tangina20. The Current orbit is OK for tanks that are less than 18" deep. The 0.3 watt leds just don't penetrate the water the way the 3.0 watt leds of the Viparspectra can.
