I'm trying to figure out how to keep my Mg at 1400 on a 200 gallon total water volume system.

On 9/18 my Mg level was 1400
On 10/23 my Mg level was 1100

Over 35 days my Mg level dropped 300ppm.

I use ESV Mg.

I have two questions.

1. What do I need to dose to get back to 1400ppm?

2. What do I need to dose to stay at 1400ppm?

I understand that 200ml will raise the Mg level back up to 1400 but after I get it to 1400 what do I dose on a daily basis to keep it there? I'm terrible with math and my brain hurts. Thanks!

If you need 200 ml to get back to 1400, that means that, in the future, you need to spread that out over 35 days. 200 ml / 35 days = 5.7 ml / day

You should setup a dosing unit to add 5.7Mls over the course of each day in order to maintain your MG at the level you want/need it at, It's much better to add a small amount each day as opposed to a massive dumping dose once a month, the corals will prefer the stability as well and will grow much better

In reef keeping the key to a successful tank is STABILITY!!!
You would have a better tank with calcium that stayed at 420 and Mg that stayed at 1200 than you would with a tank where there levels dropped down to 400 and 1200 and then were SHOT up to 500 and 1400 once/twice a month

That has typically been my experience in 15 years of doing this... stability, stability, stability
