Need help with my water level

Hello I have a IM nuvo 20 and I having issues with getting my water level correct. At first I had the sump filled up almost to the top and then I realized the water was over flowing Over the top of the filter socks. I lowered the water level to about and inch or two above the top of the water pump in the sump. The water is still spilling over the top of the one filter sock and only just low enough on the other. I would take more water out but as it sits now you here the water spilling over into the sump. If that the design then I have to live with it but if I have something wrong I'd like to correct it. Any advice would help

The center back chamber where the pump is should be at most 1 inch below the baffles or roughly 4-5 inches lower from the top of the tank?

Yea that's where I've been putting it but the right sock still has a little over flow. They could also be dirty and need to be cleaned. I clean them when I do my water changes

They're just dirty, I bought extras and just rotate them.
