Okay so I need some advice my ph is currently 7.8 I'm planning on adding cleaner shrimp some snails and hermit to my tank I know the ph for shrimp should be around 8.1 or so how do I get my ph up I'm using a ro buddy 50gpd currently for water I also have two vivid fancy clownfish in the tank now how could I raise my ph good enough to where it won't affect my fish I have in the tank now and continue to keep the ph at the right level for the future clean up crew

This is my story, I had a PH issue from the start up. I did two things, one I vented my protein skimmer air line to the outside the house, for the reason the windows are always closed and two I purchased a new PH test kit. I no longer have PH issues. I also now use the Apex and have the PH probe.

Currently I do not have a protein skimmer just new to the hobby just started the tank about lil over two weeks didn't get to upgrade To the skimmer yet. I use api test kits right now . What is the apex sorry super new to all this still trying to catch on to a lot of stuff lol first timer

This is the ultimate guide to PH. http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2004-09/rhf/
7.8 in not bad. If the tank is still new it will change, esp as you add livestock.
To make a long story short adding an airstone will bring the PH up. If you set the pump outside it will go up more because the higher 02 content of fresh air.
Once you read the article itll make more sense. Randy Rocks!
As youll see an option is a refugium, my HOB fuge ran/and still runs on an air pump.
Ro water has little to no effect on what happens in the tank. Thats from Randy. All animals in the tank need a correct PH fish and inverts coral etc. and getting it stable is the key. PH swings, I just does so dont chase it too hard.
