So first thing is first I currently don't use rodi water I know I should be but i just can't set one up right now..

My oh is consistent at 7.2 to 7.4 and I need to get it up to 8.2 to 8.4 my ph never changes no matter what time of day I check.. I have on buffer but it doesn't seem to do anything.

Im looking for tips and tricks on how to raise it and get it to become stable at 8.2 to 8.4 I wanna start adding in soft corals to my tank and that's the only thing that is really stopping me for doing so.

What kind of salt do you use? Have good gas exchange/ surface agitation in the tank? The rest of your water params may help.

How are you testing? Iirc, at 7.4 your rock should start dissolving.. I would pick up a pH meter/pen l, if your using a dropper kit.

What is your specific gravity? How is that tested?

What's your alkalinity?

If all thats in line, take a cup of water outside (if it's not too cold where you are) with a bubbler. Let it aerate and see if the pH rises. If it does it's high CO2 in the house

Well I use instant ocean. 0 ammonia 0nitrite 0 at the most ever 20pmm nitrate not sure about the other stuff havnt had to test alk calc or mag cause I don't have corals.

My rock is completely fine my salt is 1.024 I test that with a refractometer I normally check my oh with my api test kit. And yes it's to cold for me to put water outside it will freeze.

Then I'd start with getting a pH pen and see what it reads, and an alkalinity test.

Alkalinity and co2 directly relate to your pH
Low alk or high co2 can cause a lower pH reading.

May be the co2 is high, if your home is pretty well insulated and closed up due to the cold

That pH is almost certainly not accurate. Assuming you are aerating/stirring it, you'd have to have 10x the amount of CO2 in your home air as normal air (, and that would be noticeably unpleasant. It is really is, your focus should be on fixing your home air.

I'd look for a different way to measure it, or not measure pH at all at this point).
