I don't know it doesn't say freshwater only it has marine aquarium written on the box.

FWIW, there's lots of stuff sold that you should not use as directed.

That product is for fresh water. It says on their web site:

"Maintains neutral pH in community aquariums (between 6.8 - 7.2) and holds it for several weeks"


That is the pH of a fresh water tank. It may be lowering your pH.

Oh and on crabs in my experience get red leg cortez crabs. Not blue legs. Blue legs ate all the snails I bought. The blue legs are in my sump now.

I'm thinking less of a crab route I'm gonna go to like May be an emerald crab or two and some Cerith snails and two or three mexican turbos. In the future bristle stars.
