So I have been curing my dead rock for a bit now...it is now almost ready to use. But when I tear down my 55gallon tank I wanted to use that live rock as a seed for the new tank. There is one problem the live rock has lots of aptasia. So I watched Meleves reef video about cooking live rock. My question is will his method of putting the rock in saltwater and keeping it dark kill the aptasia? Or will I have to kill the live rock which I really do not want to do? Could I remove like a rock at a time and stick it in my 180 for my copper band to eat the aptasia and than "cook" the liverock?

Are bergia out of the question ?
If your plan is to put the rock in water with some flow, Itll stay live and the bugs can work.

Yeah bergias are out of the question. Am i just creating more work for myself worrying about the aptasia? they are bound to be introduced into my tank someway. Is it worth me tryign to get rid of them and potentially jkilling the life of of it?

@saltyfilmfolks does one have to worry about spores from the scourge. If one does, how long can the spores stay viable ?
Ime , the "spores " are babies. It's actually what the shrimp and and my dwarf angel are eating. I had one giant appy but no others for months. That was two different tanks , one w shrimp one with angel.
Bergia (lol autocorrect fight ) don't care how big they are. They eat em all.

As far as how long ? That's really hard , I've had a few different species of them.
The ones I have now came from one coral. No matter what I tried the coral kept "producing "more. It was awful. Quite literally from the Stoney pores.

So Imo. Really hard to say. So honestly I like to have workers in the tank that eat that kind of stuff.

Depends on how bad they are on the rock. IMO.

I had a lot from some live rock I put in my frag tank. I got the aptasia x and. Go hunting every day or so. It has been three weeks and I am finding less and less of them. Now I only see one or two at a time.
