hey guys,
I’m putting together my shopping list for plumbing my tank, I’ve got the overflow side pretty well mapped out, and I know how much PVC I need, but I’m having some issues visualizing the return side.
I’m using a large eshoppes shadow overflow, so 3x 1”. I cant find any info on the overflow if the bulkheads are slip or thread (and it hasn’t been delivered yet) I’m assuming it’s slip, if I’m wrong please correct me. The only fittings on the overflow pipes will be a union and 2 45’s (x3). Pretty straight forward.
The return side is where I’m having issues. I’m using a reef octopus Varios 6 pump, so 1 1/4” outlet. I want to have a t in the return line so I can use the pump to move water out of the system for water changes. Here are my questions:
1- is there a valve that I can put where the water change line splits off of the return line that will send water down one or the other? Or do I have to do this with two valves, one on each line right after they split?
2 - I want to use locline in the tank, but I can’t find the part that goes from bulkhead to locline. Also locline comes in 3/4” at the largest, how do I get from 1 1/4 to 3/4? I was thinking of splitting to two 3/4” locline return nozzles (so I don’t increase the head pressure by making that big of a reduction) but I can’t find the piece that does it.
3 - I want a threaded fitting on the inside of the bulkhead and slip on the outside right? BRS has them both ways, but they say “flange/head side”. I think that’s the outside right? Need confirmation.
Can anyone post links to where to buy the parts I need above? Thanks for the help!
