Hey all. I’ve got a yellow gobie in my tank who is clearly sick. I’m struggling to identify what it is. I’ve attached a picture. The fish is still very active and eating well. I noticed this a few days ago. It seems to be getting better but would like to identify what it is.

Agree with ich. You'll want to move everyone over to a quarantine and treat with copper. The main tank will have to remain without fish for 76 days to kill off all traces of the parasite.

I have a couple of questions. Does ich have the same size spots? Will ich be little white bubbles or will it look more two dimensional? I ask because there are several spots that look like tiny bubbles lightly attached all over the fish. Will the fish affected become more aggressive? The picture I have is not great but trying to get a good picture was almost as challenging as catching the fish itself.

ich spots are 3D if that helps, appearance of bubbles would be close. Another way to confirm diagnosis is that it will fluctuate in intensity over 3-7 days - you may see a temporary improvement followed by reappearance of spots.

there’s no evidence it makes fish more aggressive, severe cases would render a fish more lethargic.

I don't have a hospital tank ready to accept a sick fish. I do however have a spare heater and circulation pump along with a 5 gallon bucket. If I did a water change and took 4 gallons of aquarium water from the tank and filled the bucket, would this allow me a temporary hospital tank that wouldn't stress the fish as much? I will have to grab a hang on the back filter. I could use my filter pad and ceramic stones in the filter of the main tank to help seed the bacteria filter of the new hang on the back filter of the hospital tank.
