So i made a big mistake and bought an acan a couple months ago when my tank was new and just finished its cycle. The acan was closed and didn't open very big. My phosphate was at 0 and nitrate at 5.
I decided to give the acan to a friend who has a very stable tank and has been running for years. He has sent me pictures of what the acan looks like now it doesn't look to good. as in the pictures below.
I was wondering if i take this acan back will it still be able to heal back or is it a goner.
I also just got an AI prime 16HD
Im not sure his parameters.
My parameters are:
Salinity: 1.025
Calcium: 450
Alkalinity: 7.8
Magnesium: 1350
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate:10-15
phosphate: 0.05
Ammonia: 0
Ph: 8
Temp: 77.5

Besides the heads that are dead, it looks healthy and actually feeding in those pics. Looks like the acan may have went through a rough period. With the heads nice and puffy like that and it feeder tentacles out, shows to me that it is actually thriving.

Your parameters look good to keep acans as well. Acans thrive in lower light conditions, so you would want to put it in the corner of your tank out of direct light from your AI PrimeHD.

Yeah thats what i though was weird those dead heads are actually from the polyps right above the skeleton they moved up. My friend runs his light really high for the other corals. I will be taking the acan back today i just wanted to get some info before i do. My tank has some blastos a branching hammer and some mushrooms so i run my light on the lower side.
My Corals are thriving and growing nice.
