Need help with VarioS 2 pump

Trying to set up a new pump but the reducer just slides in and out of the fitting attached to the pump. I cant
Imagine I have to glue this. Shouldn’t this work out of the box. No instructions.

Those are for connecting to soft tubing. Not connected to each other.

Unfortunately I'm having the same issue as OP and the explanation above does not really help (maybe I'm just stupid).

I have a Waterbox Reef 70.2 and the soft pump pipe it came with only fits the top piece in the picture above.

But how do I connect the two pieces? Am I supposed to get a wider soft pipe that can attach directly to the bottom piece or how am I supposed to make this connection work?

Really need your help guys. Thank you.

I no longer have the setup, but I ended up using Crazy Glue Gel to connect those two pieces and kept going. =)

I just pushed it in and the pump isn’t crazy powerful so it holds without any glue

Makes no sense to me that it doesn’t work out of the box. Can’t imagine what would happen if you did!

I’ve used an Oatey all purpose pvc/abs cement to glue the barbs on a couple of my Varios pumps. Home Depot sells a combo primer/cement combo pack for about $10.
