So I have a bubble magus nac 8 and the recommended water level is 8 to 11 inches. This is a lot of water for my sump. When I put water level at 9" and turn my return pump off the water level in sump is only about an inch away from the top of the sump. I'm going to attach a picture. I really can't afford a new skimmer or a new sump. What do y'all think about it?

As long as it's not overflowing like @Reeferdood just said, you're good to go. But if you'd like a little wiggle room, take a look at your return outlets. You may be able to raise them a little (closer to the surface) which will cause a siphon break earlier, thus taking less water to the sump during pump outage.

Ok I'll see if I can raise it some. Thank yall

Agreed indeed!:D

I drilled a small hole in the returns just under the water surface to cause a siphon break, so when I turn off the pump not much water is siphoned into the sump before it reaches the holes. The water in my sump stops about 2 inches before the top.

Sounds like you're good to go. Just remember to clean those holes somewhat regularly to remove any build up.
