Tanks a little small. The Melanarus can get around 6-8" and be fairly territorial.

i will probably end up upgrading before they get to that size.

you're telling me...i need a bigger tank for three fish that are 1-2" big and i stated i am upgrading.

Yep even at 1 inch... just messin!
But I think the melanarus needs bigger tank once gets a little bigger, not sure about the others. I usually just get on live aquaria and see what the suggested fish/ tank size ratio is.

That is one one of the most common phrases in this hobby. I would just get one for now and then add the other two after your upgrade.

haha i feel you on that one,i hear it all the time as well.
the reason i want to get them 2-3 months before i upgrade is to have them completely on frozen/pellets as i heard 2 of the fish i listed are a little finicky with prepared foods.
they will then be moved to a 75 wrasse only tank!

H. chrysotaenia and H. melanurus are actually the same species; I wouldn't try to mix these two.

I'd only have one Halichoeres in a 40g tank, regardless of size.

If you really end up with a 75g, then a melanurus and an adorned should be fine together.
