How's this? I know the gaps aren't as large as yours, but I wanted stability, and I only have 20-l space to work with. I also wanted to be careful about removing too much rock that has been in this tank and replacing it with rock that's been in a bucket under the house for a couple of months and risking a mini-

cycle or worse.

I think it looks better but if you think it looks worse you should just change it back because the only person that is going to have to look at you tank is you

No, I think it looks better. I always overthink live rock and bioload. I think I like it and I thank your for providing the impetus to change it :-)

If you ever think that you need more rock you can just put some in the sump

I am really bad at Aquascaping and any help will do. So this is what I have so far in my IM Nuvo 20. Let me know if I can do anything better. I have some extra rocks too.

I would suggest mixing the heights up. I also think the height now does not leave much room for growth at the top. Those rocks are pretty big for what is a 14 gallon display, so maybe consider breaking one or two big ones in half.

How about now?

Better. Both were very symmetrical which seems less natural to me, but that is just my taste. If it works for you, I like it.

Your saying I need to make one higher than the other? Or the picture before were symmetrical?

I would recommend making one higher then the other and make on close to the front glass preferably the smaller one and one near the back as it will give a sense of depth

I meant both were fairly symmetrical. Some people aim for symmetry, so if you like that, do not let me discourage you. I prefer a more off center look myself. The heights seem fine in the second attempt to me. That said, when I aquascape I generally prefer one structure to be about 2/3 the tank height and a second structure 2/3 the height of the first.

I think that looks great

I like the overall look. The left and right sides look very natural. While I like the center, it does not look as natural with the stacked flat rocks. But that could be overcome with appropriate coral placement. Nice job.

My 55 hex has been running since around thanksgiving and I have been toying with the idea of adding a few more rocks to my scape. Would like some input first.

My thought is to add a few more pieces to either side in an effort to make a few more archways. So it might look like

Interesting tank. My opinion would be to make the change to one side only to avoid too much symmetry.

I don’t see it looking bad if you add those rocks there but it will give you more roof for coral

Thanks Caveman. I think the right side would be my preferred if doing only one side. I definitely dont want it to be symmetrical.

Thanks Joe. I am not planning (famous last words) in doing corals...but some green star polyps and a nem or two have crossed my mind!

Just be wary with gsp because once it’s there there is no getting rid of it

Trying to get some input and figure out a good scape for my 90. Here is what I have so far. It is a mixed reef tank upgraded from a 32 in the last couple weeks. Thanks!

You have 2 structures with similar heights and shapes. It will be more interesting if you make one much longer and taller than the other.
