You managed to stack the rocks in a cohesive way. You have a good base there, I would just take care when placing corals so that the space between the structures doesn't disappear.

I like my rock but at the same time, I’m not in love with it. I feel it’s just two boulders married together... I feel I need redo what y’all think..? I feel to much rock for a 40 Breeder..

Yes, it's not working but it's easy to correct.

The two structures are too boxy (too many horizontal and vertical lines) and they have the same height.

You can try keeping the concept of 2 structures, but make them different in volume and shape and avoid horizontal/vertical lines.

Hey, so I played around with my rocks a long time ago and came up with the first aquascape (boxes in the back). Now its time to add the rock to the tank and I have no clue which peaces when where, but this is what I came up with (cabinet in the back). Any ideas?

It looks very good, it will look even better with corals, which is not always the case.

Hey everyone! First off, this is a fantastic thread!

I'm in the aquascape planning stages for my Waterbox 170 and created a mockup in my garage to test out some designs. Would really appreciate some thoughts, opinions, advice. I've narrowed it down to 3 variations of a similar overall layout...

Design 1.

Design 2.

Design 3.

The last 2 are very good, but the third will look better once corals go in because of the change you made on the right structure.

My current aquascape needs a serious do-over. I see all these great scapes with curves, arches, etc but no idea where to begin. Pic attached. I already know people will not like the rock wall on the back glass but wil be hard to remove in an established tank. Really want to know how to do the main aquascape. This is a 55gallon so not much front to back room for aquascaping. Thanks for looking.

Although it looks weird now, it's a clever idea for a tank that narrow. I would remove a few rocks though to make it look lighter and more like a suspended reef.

Do you mean remove of the rocks from the back wall?

This is my first scape ever. I'm limited with the rocks that I have, so here is what I've come up with. I overall am okay with it, though I think more height on one side would look better? Thoughts?

I agree with you, I would try to make one side higher.

Love the rock with the overhang! Are you going to have sand or bare Bottom?
That looks good but you might want to leave some room between your rock and glass for cleaning. I didn’t on some of mine and it makes it a pain to clean.
@rodney the work does look close to the back but its defiantly room to get glass scrubber in the back, as per sand i'm going with the fiji pink sand.. Thanks for response guys..

Cool make sure to post some pictures when you get it put together.

Threw together some preliminary ideas for my upcoming aquascape... The table is masked off for the tank footprint to still give me 2 inches all around the glass. Viewing angles are front and left glass panel of the tank.

The pile of rocks. Interesting cave and sits at a height of 3/4 of the tank. I am hopeful for a Rittari 'nem and this might be a good option.

I dig the bridges and the caves, but thinking something is off with the leftmost rock, like it needs to come forward. Max height is about halfway up the tank. Could be the candidate for replacement with pile of rocks.

A rolling crescent. I like the offset overhang.

That is going to look good! Are you going to glue them together?

It looks very good. Here's a suggestion pointing out the lines that are working well and the others that can easily be improved (red to yellow).

Another idea is to leave it as it is and let the corals change those horizontal and vertical lines.

Just rearranged mine for about the fourth time this month lol. It’s starting to get a little frustrating. Any suggestions? Thanks

Also, I want to mention that this rock is not really porous. I’m not sure if I want to put it in the sump or leave it.

I'd like either the left island to be a bit taller or the right island a bit shorter. The middle rock on the right island looks a bit awkward. What about removing it and leaving a small cove on the right, then adding it to the left to gain some height?

Is that a standard 55? Long and skinny?
