Fish are in a QT about a week this morning I noticed the black spot on the lieutenant tang
Been treating with therapeutic levels of copper
What is it and how do I treat

Possibly due to a wound inflicted by the Sailfin (his scalpel).

Yesterday it was two black spots and today it was one large one. He has also been rubbing on things. Could it be black spot instead of a wound

I agree the @Humblefish, its bacterial, not black Ich. The rubbing is from the irritation of the wound.

Follow humble's treatment.

Black ich are actually worms, much smaller and usually more numerous (see photo)

I agree with the bacterial infection diagnosis.
