Hello everyone I’m glad to become part of this web site .

I decided to ask you guys for help with my 55 gallon aquarium I will detail everything and I will add pics of it.
1- I have a lot of alge that I can’t get rid off.
2- my fishes got ick .

This is my set up
55 gallon
45 lb live rock
29 gallon sump with a refugium
2 AQua illumination
And a tunze 9012 skimmer

I don’t have any more room for a second aquarium don’t know what to do
I was hoping that the fish fight the ick on their own.

Can you tell us a little about your set up.
How old is the tank
What are the parameters in the tank
Did you add new fish and then got ick
Do you do water changes
Do you use ro water
This will help figure out what is going on.

The tank is 2 month old
I’m using API test kit and everything is 0 ppm
Didn’t add any new fish all the fish are there since day one
2 damsel
1 tomato clown
And 2 pj cardinals
I do water change I buy water from my local fish store RO water I’m using instant ocean salt
In the sump is a filter sock in the fist chamber second chamber is a refugium and the last is the pump

Your tank is still new and going thru an algea stage which is normal. Just keep up with regular water changes and it should go away. I recommend doing 20% water changes a month. You could also try cutting back on your light schedule for now.

Those fish aren’t commonly affected by Ich. Any chance you can get a closeup picture?

1. How often do you change out your filter sock?
2. How often do you do your water changes?
3. I have a hard time believing your test kit...you have nutrients if you have algae. Maybe try a different test kit...Red Sea, or Hanna, or Salifert.

I do 10 gallon water change every 2 weeks I rince the filter sock ever 3 days

the sock is trapping lots of waste deep inside its weave. I doubt that rinsing it is thoroughly cleaning it. When i had socks, i put them through the washer with bleach only, rinsed by hand, then let air dry. It looked brand new each time. I highly suspect your sock is causing at least part of your issue, seeing how dark it is with detritus.
