Hello all!

So I made the plunge from fresh to saltwater a few months ago.

I am at the point where I have added a couple frogspawn. They were thriving for a good few weeks until they started to shrink up. I've tried changing my water, checking my levels and can't seem to find the cause. As of this morning my water was very cloudy and sand is creating algae all over. Is this because of my fluval marine lighting? Or because I am not using RODI water and mixing my own?

Any help would be amazing.

A picture of your tank would be very helpful and also a full set of water parameters

When you say your not using RODI water and mixing your own, what do you mean ?

Welcome to R2R as well by the way!

Welcome to the world of reefing! If your tank is only a few months old and you added corals a month ago it might be a bit too early if it’s not stable.when did your tank complete it’s cycle? listing your water parameters will help us get a better idea of what’s going on. Rodi water is usually a must with corals. If you are using tap water and adding mix salt to that and then putting it in your tank there’s usually a long list of “bad” things you don’t want in there. If the water is cloudy often that’s associated with a bacterial bloom or if you have fine sand it could just be too much flow that stirring it up. Add a couple pictures of your tank if you can. Lighting is another issue, depending on where your corals are placed in the tank and the specific light you have- it may be too much or not enough that is also affecting them. Which light do you have what size is your tank, what else is in there, what filtration do you have etc. :) Give us the details and we’ll try and help :)
