Not sure what this is. There are two of them actively grazing right now. They are only out at night. About an inch long and have "hair" on their shells. Do not currently have any hair algae in tank so it does not appear to be algae on the shell. There is a distinct white stripe down the center of the shell. They look and act like snails but I do not recall ever adding these to my tank. Any ideas?

Cowrie snail. Not a cowrie expert, I guess some aren't exactly reef safe? I have a couple money cowries and love them.

Turns out these are cowrie. Had no idea they looked like this when feeding since their shell during the day is smooth and shiny like pearl.

Marvellous mantle: When alive and moving around, the cowrie usually encloses its shell with its mantle (a part of its body). The mantle may have a different color and pattern from the shell and is often also 'textured' with tiny projections. When the shell is covered by the mantle, a cowrie is sometimes mistaken for a slug.

Added these a while back to help with GHA. Money Cowrie. They are supposed to be reef safe. Read they were algae eating beasts. GHA disappeared a week after they were introduced. Happy to see they are still hard at work! Haven't had any issues with them.

Oh lol you put them there. Yeah, cowrie are fun little guys. I don't see mine very often. When it's mantle is out, it's happy/comfortable which is always a good sign for your tank.
