Algae or bacteria...?

phosphate and nitrate are both undetectable.

Ok, Now let me say ,I'm no expert on this so, I hope other more knowledgeable People will drop in. Anyway I've had the brown slimy stuff twice . Both times I had zero No3. Po4. This stuff can take over other competing algaes etc in low nutrient situations. After getting my levels up it wasn't taking over.

It that algae or bacteria? I was thinking to increase my nitrate level to see if it will cure it. I do not have skimmer but only algae scrubber with lights on 12 hours a day. I used to have less hours. I know Cyno can be cured by nitrate.

Mulm;) Link. How old it the tank?

The tank is less than a year.

The "Mulm" seems grow in dark area, based on the explanation, but mine in the picture grow strong light area, that is supposed to grow SPS.
Mine was all over the place, light/dark areas, I was using NoPox and thought it was because I was carbon dosing.

here is some more reading link

Thanks for your explanation. Mine is very white, and based on one google results, it looks like mine is live bacteria. I only add Ca(CL)2, MgSO4, and NaHCO3+ Na2CO3.

beside those, Nothing else, no skimmer, but algae scrubber. I will increase nitrate to see if it will cure it. They took too much space...

Can you blow it off with a baster or does it need to be scrubbed off with a brush? I'm wondering if it's a type of sponge?
I was kinda thinking the same thing
