Hi all,
I am looking to get a compact sump/ refugium that will fit under my 65g tall. At the moment I am running 2 canister filter [emoji20] any ideas would be appropriated. I need something that I can use to house a small protein skimmer and a small reactor.

I had to downgrade as my 75 bow front failed :/ Sonia no space for my old gear.

Interesting that u use a canister. I use one on my 60 gallon. But.. I'm new to this hobby. I'm also looking to find a cheap sump or diy sump.

I had a sump before and it worked great but I am wary of using just canisters as they can be a source of nitrates and nitrites.

Yes that's what I've heard and I am currently struggling with high nitrates

I am using specific kind of media that helps to cut it down and I only have to do a water change maybe every 2 to 3 months, and I change out one filter at a time, at around three month mark.

I used my canister in conjunction with a refugium. really worked great. You need export. trimming chato pulls the no out. its only a source of nitrates if you dont clean it. but Even if you clean the can the No stays in the system and only come out with waterchanges. I switched to an in tank skimmer tunze 9001 but I had better results with the canister and hob fuge.

I done a 50% water change 2 weeks ago and my nitrates are already back up to 20ppm. Thank goodness I have no coral yet.

One canister is in the e-Hime rated for 80 gallon tank. the other I don't remember but you can kind of see it and it's rated for 100 gallon tank. And you see the media in one of the pictures. I do not use charcoal. I just use a foam pad fine filter pad and the rest is the media you see o and Boyd Enterprises Chemi-Pure.

a lot of the successful long term canister filter users here use marine pure blocks or other media as well as chem media, to house extra bacteria.

Did I miss you somewhere? If I did sorry welcome to the board and THANK you for your service (Jarhead ) I'm a retired dog face.
I guess it depends on how much you want to spend, not talking about DIY sumps I've seen coralvue icecap sump for around 225 or so not bad but don't include a refugium. Since my space was ( is) limited I went with a trigger systems crystal cube. It's 18 inches wide and 18 inches deep has a nice refugium. Great product

Let me see your war face!

Lol. All good.
I have a small area I can use. I had to downgrade because my 75 bowfront pop the center brace. So now I am limited on size.

take a look at the Eshopps one someone mentioned also on Amazon you can buy "tanks" that come with baffles that you silicone yourself and can buy sock holders also. eBay has the same ones as well just gotta remember that the inside of your stand is smaller than you think. So measure three times side to side and top to bottom ( got that skimmer height in there

At the moment I'm pretty much stuck with this tank.
