Need ideas for way to hang light

I am in the process of setting up a 34g rimless tank and need ideas on how to hang my light. Tank is located in living room so want a clean look. Also I do not want to hang light from ceiling. My light is a 120w led(evo like). It is pretty heavy, probly 5-10 pounds. As of now I bent some 1/2" conduit that comes up from rear of tank and across mid tank. It is only connected to tank on one side. I was thinking of doing the same on other side and connect with a union. It then may be strong enough to support the weight. What are your guys thoughts and ideas. What have you done

I installed a designer type shelf above my tank and hung the light from that. The shelf is drilled into studs, and is useful.

I was thinking that, but wouldnt the shelf have to come out from wall a large amount.

Maybe verify the weight? 5-10 pounds (if accurate) isn't much so your conduit should be able hold it without the extension. (Is it very thin wall and soft metal or something?)

Hanging from the ceiling - where the hanging hardware is out of view - can make for a much cleaner look than a conduit arm on the tank IMO...truly no way to go that route? Even hanging from a bookshelf bracket or even a whole shelf as others mentioned would seem preferable.

Also there was another thread or two in the last week where people were suggesting some pretty cool ceiling-alternatives for hanging a light....browse back through the week's threads.

Seen Vega hung ontop of a biocube 29 with a flower hanger type thing.

Mine only comes out halfway over tank and about a foot and a half above it. I keep stiff up there like drivers and fish food and stuff too.

Look for a hanging kit like ATI lights use. You can get just that kit from anywhere that sells ATI.

This is what I went with. I used wooden shelf brackets for closet organizers. They come in several finishes, but I painted mine to match my stand.
The wall anchors I used looked like this:

They are rated for 265 lbs each which seems optimistic, but holding 30lbs+ is no worry.

Getting ready to build a support out of 80/20 aluminum. Will be attaching to wall. Super strong and avoids cables hanging from ceiling.

Basically it's like a big erector set that you can design yourself. I personally like the look as well.
