So recently I won a tank from one of my LFS and I need some ideas of what to do with it. The tank dims are 48x48x16 (or 18 have to double check). The overflow is in the center. So I'm not sure what I want to do with it. Anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking of making it into an aggressive lagoon tank or something. I know the typical thing to do would be to use it as a frag tank but I'm not sure if I want to do that. I currently have a 40gallon cube for a grow out tank and a 93 cube reef display tank. Any suggestions? Pics would be nice!

so many options that's a pretty big tank what the total h2o gal?
I would do something totally different...

here are some ideas:
~macro algae tank (AKA marine planted tank)
~ same as above but add a seahorses to the tank. (granted the 18" height is not ideal but still could work.)
~ butterfly tank...so many beautiful fish that get over looked
~ mangrove lagoon ( but they might out grow that tank I hear they can bust one??)
~ lion fish and frog fish and non reef safe wrasse.
~ stingray tank??
~FW planted tank
~clown harem tank
~biotope tank (pick your fav. and stick to it :D)

just some off the top of my head.
let us know what you decide...

I like the clown harem, stingray, or mangrove ideas.

predator lagoon tank with anglers and dwarf lions... that's what I would do. or maybe just one or the other, I don't even know if they can live together...

The only thing I am getting is the tank and stand. This is it set up at the vendors house. He is in the process of emptying it now and cleaning it up. I was thinking of maybe doing like a shark or ray tank. I have no idea honestly lol

Neat shape. It would be cool if you had a room so large that the tank could be in the middle, viewable from all 4 sides as a walk-around. (Any electrical cords would have to be encased in those plastic flooring strips you can walk over.)

Ceiling cord(s) sounds workable in your situation; youncould run them together with the cord to hanging lights. Then get the black plastic flexible spiral tubing used to cover audio cables from Lowe’s or Home Depot (comes in various diameters) and wrap it around all the handing wires into one or two sleek looking bundle(s) coming down from the ceiling.
