Need info on current saltwater tank setups

Welcome to reef2reef. Good to have you part of the club.
Decide now if you only want fish or your going to want corals. It makes it easier to go over to coral. That’s what I did. I added piece by piece over a year till I had a reef. I also have a fish only tank.
Basics haven’t changed much. Live rocks and sand. Uv are still around and used. Skimmers are also used but not the under gravel filters.
You have hob (hang on back) skimmers or in sump. Filters can be either canister, hob or sump. It really is up to you. Lighting is all over the board. Led, t5, or combos. Again it’s up to you.

If you have not bought your tank yet decide how big of a tank you want. Because once you set up a tank and want a bigger one you have to start the process all over again and usually you will have to upgrade your equipment to meet the demands of the bigger tank
